Hanseatic city Hamburg
With about 1.86 million inhabitants, Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany after Berlin, the eigth largest in the European Union, and also the largest that is not the capital of a state. The port of Hamburg is one of the largest harbours in Europe and is ranked 17th in the world’s largest container ports. The Hanseatic city is one of the most important logistic centers in Europe, including its international airport and as a transport nodal point. It is also economically and scientifically important, especially in the field of aerospace technology, life sciences and information technology, for the consumer goods industry as well as for the media landscape and the cultural and creative industries.
